PRAISE FOR THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK METHOD
From ColicHelp.com:
"I just wanted to let you know that my video from Dr. Karp arrived several days ago and let me tell you......... it has been awesome. My daughter is out like a light in 5 minutes no lie and sometimes even less depending upon how tired she is. The blanket swaddling makes all the difference in the world. This will say whether you will succeed or not. Now the swaddling is not enough for my dd to fall asleep but I use his technique in the video and MY GOD IT REALLY WORKED!!!!! It takes several takes and practice but it really worked. Now she will fuss a bit when you first put her in the blanket but eventually she will start calming down when she actually starts seeing and feeling the blanket on her. Takes a couple of days. Don't get the book, get the video so you can see it. I never was a method learner from a book. Its so different.
My life has changed so much,
Thinking of you,
Serena

"My husband refers to it as the "Harvey Shuffle", like a dance. The first time I saw it I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the day after my son Ben was born and Dr. Karp came into my hospital room to examine him. He took Ben off of my breast, interrupting his breakfast and causing him to complain loudly. He wrapped Ben up in a blanket so tightly I imagined it might stop his blood from flowing. Then, he placed him belly down on his knees and began to jiggle him while making this shushing sound.
I thought to myself, "This man is definitely crazy!" I felt like I should do something to stop this, but then to my amazement, Ben stopped his crying and a heavenly expression came across his face. In less than 30 seconds, Ben was asleep and my jaw was on the floor.
Since then, we have often used the swaddling, shushing and jiggling. It has saved many tears and ensured our neighbor's peace."
-Christina, Jonah and Ben, LA, California
"We owe you our second born, for teaching us, "The Karp". It's a miracle cure for colic! We hope your next project will have something to do with the common cold."
-Ana, Jeff and Alexander, LA
"Swaddling Theo made a huge difference. He is now sleeping 5-6 hours straight at night. (His record in an unswaddled state was 3 hours).
He also falls asleep much more easily. It used to take me over an hour to get him to sleep because he was so fussy and uncomfortable. Now he seems relieved to be swaddled and five times out of six will fall asleep on his own. It even cut down on his spitting up at night. We owe you."
-Lisa, Evan and Theo, Venice, California
