Exclamation REGLAN needs to be banned

My son was diagnosed with reflux when he was three weeks old. Our doctor put him on Zantac and Reglan a few weeks later. He is now weeks old and is just now having a reaction to the Reglan. He waves his arms up and down for 20 minutes at a time hitting himself. He screams out for no reason and seems doped up all day. Doctor told us that Reglan was FDA approved for infants. True, but only in emergany case and for no more than 12 weeks. He left out that part. Reglan was first introduced in 1985 as an ANTI-PHYSCOTIC. Many adults who take it have depression and some have attempted suicide. REGLAN has a 28% chance it could cause IRREVERSIBLE nerological disorders. That "nervous tic" my son has now may never go away. He may always be slow. Clinical shown that reglan doesnt even help most infants or adults. Please, for your child's safety, do NOT give them Reglan unless it is an emergancy. People are trying to get the FDA to ban this drug. Do the research. Thats how I found out. My son as of now has been off the Reglan for two days and seems to be doing a little better, but you all know how that can change. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS NOTICED A CHANGE IN THEIR CHILDRENS BEHAVIOR THAT IS ON THIS DRUG???

That scares the @#$% out of me! Jackson was on reglan fro 5-6 weeks...it was a low dose, but I chose to take him off of it b/c of stuff I read about it. He was a different baby once we took him off. WHile on it, he seemed stiff and doped up all of the time. The day after we took him off of it, he layed his head down on my shoulder and relaxed....I dont think it was a coincidence. I pray to God that it didnt cause any long term effects for Jackson or your baby. He is 6 months now and seems fine.

Post Report symptoms

I have spoke to the FDA about the problems with Reglan. It is not FDA approved for infants but can be used on an "Off label" basis. Which was descibed as the drug was approved for people so the doctors can use it anyway they like. The only way to get something done is to report any side affects to the FDA . Maybe with enough complaints the FDA can can regulate how they use this drug. We place a lot of trust into our doctors who may prescribe this medicine for people who dont need it.

Advice: research any medication your doctors prescribe so that you are aware of the risks before you medicate your child. Report any problems you have to the FDA. They are the only one's that can make something happen.

Horrible Behavior

My 5 month old son is on Prevacid and Reglan and I am stopping the Reglan today. He is doing horrible on it. He screams, cries, and whimpers all day since he has been on it. He does not sleep well and I can hardly put him down for a minute. He has to sleep with me. It is awful. I have never seen him act this way or throw these kinds of fits. He used to smile all the time and talk and now he hardly smiles at all. He just fusses. It is not worth it. He is miserable and doesn't even know why. A total different baby then a week ago. I hope it works it's way out of his system quickly.
