How long will it take for Zantac to take effect for my 5 week old ds? We started giving him .5 2x aday yesterday. Today he just screamed after I gave it to him, then settled down enough to eat then started crying again for about an hour then fell a sleep. Just woke up about 15 minutes later and not crying, just hanging out. :rolleyes:

It takes about two weeks to see a difference-hang on a little while longer and hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

i found that Zantac didnt work for us but prilosec was great and it worked within a few days. if its unbearable go back to your doctor after a week and say that there is no change. dont know if your baby has tunny pains too but mine did and the zantac made them worse. do you also use thickened formula? if not that really helps in conjunction with the meds. good luck.
