The past two nights DS has been waking very frequently...since he started the Zantac he was down to one waking per night. I am wondering if since he's gained weight, should the dosage be increased? He weighed 14 lbs. at 2 mo. - he's now 12 weeks and has got to weigh AT LEAST 17 lbs. (We don't have a scale, so I'm not sure) He takes .5ml 2x a day. Any suggestions?

Well, when my baby was 11 lbs the gi had him on .7ml of zantac, once a night, if that helps.

When Thomas outgrew his Zantac dosage, the GI just switched him to Prilosec rather than increase it. I've heard from lots of moms with babies on Zantac that they had to get frequent weight checks and constantly keep adjusting the dosage.

I was wrong...he is on 1 ml 2x a day. His dr. told me I could increase it to 1.2 at each dose. I swear it isn't doing any good. The doctor doesn't seem to think it is a problem, since he keeps most of it down and gains weight so rapidly. But it makes feeding very unpleasant.

Can you get in to see a GI and see if you can get him switched to Prilosec? Prilosec was sooo much better than Zantac for Thomas.

Scratch what I said before about Hope. I took her in to her Ped. last night she, has been a hand full again. Screaming and crying. Throwing up alot. Her Zantac needed to be increased to 2.0ml x 2 a day. She weighs 13lbs and 15 oz.
Well she also has a fever and her fist cold.

It seems like every other baby takes much more meds than mine. My son is about 17-18 lbs. My ped. told me to increase it to 1.2 ml 2x a day and he is doing much better. I also give him Mylanta at the feedings when he doesn't take the Zantac; it has helped tremendously.

My son is doing great. Over the past week or so he has started sleeping from 7-8 pm to 5-6 am. He has gotten through about 3 or 4 car rides without crying. Hour-long rides!!! I increased his Zantac to 1.4 ml 2x/day. I give him Mylanta sometimes. I just weighed him and he is 20 lbs. and not even 4 mo. old yet! Anyway, just wanted to let veryone know. Thanks for your advice.
