Remind me never to post that my son is a new baby........HAHAHA I totally jinxed it and he has been fussy ever since I posted it....which is pretty much ever since he went to the doctors for his 2 month visit..OF COURSE when I was there I was raving about how good he has been.......AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Oh well...............I guess you can never win.....He has totally reverted back to old ways http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung/traurig/sad-smiley-047.gif .....he screams through burping .... doesnt want to be put down .....ETC ETC ETC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I may ask my doctor about cereal.....and I was thinking.........after all the posts I have read regarding grinding up of the cereal.......I wonder if one of those small coffee bean grinders would work?? http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung/fragend/confused-smiley-013.gif My mom has one......I might borrow it to see ......that is IF my doctor suggests cereal...

I know what you mean...my son has been on Zantac for over a week and was doing wonderfully until yesterday. Now he is back to fighting and crying during feeding. They said to give it two weeks...I don't know if it is going to help or not.

Hi,
The one thing that I found really helped with the cereal in the bottles was I changed over to the older baby nipple. Ever since then I have had no clogging and I do not grind the ceral in a blender. I also find that the Carnation rice ceral is pretty fine to begin with.
I also find that the thickening of the ceral really helps to lessen the spit up.
I am not sure how old the baby has to be to start the ceral in the bottle, but we started at 5 months, but then she did not get diagnosed with reflux until 5 months.
The combination of Zantac, rice ceral in bottles, and also the PED told me to change her feedings from every 3 hours to every 4 hours. I also elevated the head of her crib a little and that has helped too. I also do not lie her flat until at least 1 1/2 hours after she has eaten.

I introduced rice cereal to my babies bottle when he was only a week old. after coming home from hospital and having him scream all night i didnt care what the doctors thought, this really helped with my first son and it helped again with my now 6 month old. who still unfortunately has reflux and didnt magically get better at the 20 week mark like so many do. another thing that really helped for us as he also has colic is camomile tea. it helps with stomach cramping and it seems to help him bring up wind because normally he is really hard to burp. the doctor said it was perfectly safe and when he is crying hard he seems to get some relief drinking it. warm is best. hope this advice might help someone. i know i just keep trying things hoping that something will help.

I am tellin ya...cereal works!
Hope is less crappy. Screams less. And she sleep a lot more.
We were told by her ped. to make her bottle slushy. She drinks 6 to 7oz now so I put in 1 teaspoon per ounce. She goes 6 to 8 hours in between feedings ( with zantac).
I do not put the rice cereal in griners I never have. Why do you think you should or do?
The cereal is supose to thickin the formula up.

I agree with you completely. i didnt understand the whole grinding thing i have been reading but i thought it might just have been different in australia. it is supposed to be very thick. that's why it works. those of you who havent found it a great success try a thicker version.
