Can someone give me signs and symptoms of acid reflux?

Hunter had been very colicky during his first 4 weeks of life....but with the help of the Dr. Brown's bottles, he has been 99% better as far as the colic is concerned .....but (isn't there always a but???) he tends to spit up after every ounce now. He seems content and satisfied, even after spitting up so much, so I think he is getting plenty to eat, but I was wondering if it could be that he is getting too much formula at one time or if it could be acid reflux.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!

I posted something on the board for you. Info on reflux: this should help you deside.

It sounds like your baby is a "happy spitter". As long as it's not causing him discomfort and he's gaining weight, the only thing you have to worry about is all that extra laundry! :D

Even if it is reflux, it may not be a problem for him. A lot of babies have it and it never really bothers them. But it can get progressively worse through 3-4 months of age, so if he starts showing signs down the road that it's becoming painful for him, you can do something about it then. But as long as he seems happy and has a full belly, then I'd just let it go. :)

Hunter has exhibited the majority of the symptoms that honeybunny78 listed.....we have an appt. on the 5th, so I will definitely voice my concerns to his ped. One question ---when you say odd smelling breath --- what exactly do you mean? He has what I call a 'medicine' breath. Sometimes I smell the formula, but it is normally mediciny (sp?).

I have stumbled on a way to burp him that has been keeping his formula down....instead of patting him or putting him over my shoulder (which usually produces a tidalwave of formula  ), I've been keeping him in the same position as when he eats and I softly press his tummy. He lets out these HUGE burps and keeps the formula down. To distract him while I'm doing his, I rub his little chin. He seems to be enjoying our little "play" time!

Again....thanks to both honeybunny78 and blessed for the responses. It helps so much knowing that someone else is going through this.
