I know that there are many different theories on the cause of colic. I recently read a book titled Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Wiessbluth and he discussed a bunch of factors. There was one interesting thing that has made me think. He said something about colicky babies having higher levels of progesterine and cortisone. My OBGYN put me on progesterine only birth control pills 2 weeks after delivery, they are safe to use if you are breastfeeding. I wonder if this could have some effect on the baby. If that theory holds true, maybe the prog. is getting passed through the breast milk and causing the colic?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Actually, my baby started her colic at 2 weeks and I didn't even start the pill until 6 weeks...she didn't get any worse from it. Don't you wish there weren't so many theories out there, and more hard evidence of what actually causes it! I do!!!!!
