Please help! My 8 week old daughter has colic. We have switched to enfamil's nutramigen. Also are using Dr. Brown's bottles and the vacuum cleaner non-stop. Her Dr. has also prescribed zantac and levsin. Even when she is not crying she is trashing her arms and head around. Is this normal for a baby with colic? Her Dr. says that since she is gaining weight and has normal stools that it is just colic. I'm concerned b/c of her abrubt movements that it's something more than that.

Hi Becky,,
I just posted a reply to you a bit ago, and saw your first post and wanted to say two things,,
You mentioned the noise of the vacum, and using it alot. Do you find that useful to your daughter? If you think she is the kind of baby who responds to white noise,, or other kinds of repetitive noises,, there is a sound maching you can buy made specifically for relaxation, and sleep calming that I have found to be incredibly helpful to 2 of my babies. You can go to www.Brookstone.com, and type in Tranquil Sound Machine to their search and look at the machine. It comes with 12 sounds that are helpful, and repetitive. You can put it on a timer, or leave it on all night if you prefer. My daughter loves it,, she now knows that when her "rain" sound comes on,, it is one of the sleep associations she uses to soothe herself to sleep.
The other thing I wanted to say,, is if you are still concerned about the head movements being something to worry about, consider having someone make a video of it,, while you hold her,, or tape it yourself and bring it to your pediatrician. I had to recently make a tape for my sons ENT while he slept,, so he can evaluate if he has sleep apnea. just a thought i wanted to pass on.
Good night,, going to bed,, as morning comes quick,,
Carmela
