My baby grandaughter who is about 4 weeks old was diagnosed with colic. She cried uncontrollably for two days and nights. I remembered my dad giving my babysister catnip tea for her colic.Since Dad passed away five years ago I couldn't ask him about it. I researched it on the Internet then took my daughter to our local health food store. The clerk in the store sold us tea bags which she told us to steep in a cup of hot water for two to three min. and dilute by half with cool water. We fed the baby 2 oz. of this tea then fed her, her formula with a teaspoon of rice cereal for each ounce which the Dr. had prescribed. She slept for over four hours woke up to eat and went right back to sleep. It has been 3 days now and she's like the baby we brought home from the hosp. My daughter is also drinking the tea to relax. Fennel tea is also used but catnip seems to be more effective. When my Mom visited tonight my daughter and I told her about the tea and she said all of us kids had used it (7 of us). It relaxes the digestive system and does cause drowsiness. I wouldn't recommend using it constantly but in our case it hasn't been nessesary. I read these posts last week while researching colic and my heart goes out to each and every one of you and your babies. I have also been praying for you. I hope this info might be of some help.
