My son will be 10 wks old this Sunday. Our problem is that after all daytime feedings (about 15 min after feed is over), he begins to fuss, which escalates to intense crying. the only way my husband and I can console him is taking him out in the stroller, or car (unfortunately we dont have one we live in NYC) or turning on the vacuum and putting him in the swing. I am near the end of my rope and exhausted with this - DR says he is fine - gaining nicely etc. and he will grow out of it. He does burp, but passes alot of gas below.

Anyone out there heard of a similar case - is this colic or does it sound like something else.

Thanks

It sounds similar to what my daughter has experienced.
(refer to posting on "Zantac Usage-Sean" before yours)
My daughter is younger than yours but she would
also sometimes eat fine and then relax 5-10mins and then
become very uncomfortable. I found an excellent
website on reflux conditions in infants. I do not
have the direct link, but enter in "Zantac for infants"
using Google search and it will be the only
site that comes up. This site examines many areas that
can cause infant distress.

In reguards to how long it took for Zantac to work.
My wife and I noticed the effect immediately. We use
syrup .6ml/2xDay. She does not fight her feedings
as much and she is more happy and is consoluble.
The Zantac will not eliminate spitting up or gas
but will reduce the acid effects of spit-up
back into the esophagus. She does have moments when
she will eat and then 30 minutes later she will be
fussy. I believe it to be gas or her being uptight.
This usually occurres in the evenings just as
it happens in most children in the evening. I hope
you were able to find the web site. Good Luck!
