Melissa (9 weeks as of Monday) has spent most of the last three days tossing and turning and twisting and crying. It seems to me that after she moves her bowels, she feels a lot better. But she may grunt and groan for HOURS until she finally either passes gas or has a bowel movement. Pediatrician says nothing can be done that it will pass once her poor little body matures a little more. We're on Zantac twice a day and Maalox as needed.
Anyone else had a similar experience with all this grunting and groaning, etc?? Help!

Hi Becky,
It almost sounds like she is constipated? :lol this is going to sound gross, but what it the consistency of her BM when she finally goes? Are you breastfeeding her or formula feeding her? If formula feeding her, perhaps you might want to think of a lower iron brand of formula.
Hope things settle for you soon!

The BM was of "regular" consistency and we haven't had that twisting and turning since I wrote the message. Go figure. :conf4 Pediatrician said sometimes they can get a gas bubble that they just can't burp or pass the other way and it will aggravate them until they move it one way or the other. He just shrugs his shoulders and blames it on her immature digestive sytem. She's on Nutramigen (what else--nothing but the MOST expensive formula).

:lol My son was on Nutramigen and we called it "Liquid Gold" because of the price of it! :D

Vickie,
And have you ever tasted Nutramigen yourself. Nasty stuff. Can't believe she drinks it as well as she does.
