I was just reading more on reflux. My son is on Alimentum and Zantac for colic. When he is on Zantac twice daily we see an improvement in him. I think my son has the silent symptoms of reflux. I was looking at the symptoms of reflux and was wondering if anyone's baby is hard to burp? My son some days can go without burping at any feeding. This is after trying his stomach over our shoulder, lifting him face down and patting his back (suggestions from the dr). Also, when they say wheezing, is it wheezing in the throat area, not really in the lungs? My DR. has told us many times that when our son learns to clean his throat, everything will be fine. Well, I am tired of people asking me if he has a cold all the time.

Thanks for your help,
Taff

HI Taff, my daughter was hard to burp and had silent reflux. the main symptom that I remember is that you could hear her burp and then swallow real hard. She was really congested too. The doctors kept telling me she was fine it was simple colic and to wait it out. I finally got mad and found a specialist. It ended up I was right and she did have silent reflux, they put her on prevacid and now she is perfectly normal with a great appitite. Bottom line if you don't like what your doctor is telling you, go see a specialist, if you need a referral demand one. You know your baby best, not someone who see him for 15 minutes every other month. Good luck.

Hi Taff,

Just to answer your question. Wheezing is breathing with a rasp or whistling sound. It results from constriction or obstruction of the throat, pharynx, trachea or bronchi in the lungs. It is the noise made on expiration of the air from lungs.

I agree with chele, sounds like you need to speak with a specialist who will listen properly to your babies problems.

Good luck,
Cary
