Prilosec question

Hi,

I'm hoping that all you mum's out there that have your babies on Prilosec can help me with this question.

I read that the medication can cause constipation. Jill started taking in Tuesday evening (10mg twice a day), Wednesday she had no bowel movements (she usually has 1-2/day). Then yesterday she had 7 I think, all small and firmer than usual and now today she's had 5 small ones already.

Do any of you have similar stories? Her little butt is so red from all the straining, I'm worried that she's having trouble handling the meds.

Please tell me your stories.

I wish I could help more, my son was not on the prilosec. All I can say is that it sure sounds like some uncomfortable constipation for your little girl. Do you think the prilosec is helping her for the reflux and is she a lot better? I guess I mean is it working at least for that part of it.
If so I suppose you could continue the meds and ask the doc if you should give her something for the constipation. Otherwise, it sounds like the poor thing is in discomfort now from that, if it gets bad enough maybe you could switch to the new flavor zantac or the tagamet instead of the prilosec, those seem to not list constipation as a side effect.
