Hi. I am new to this board and have found it to be very helpful. I have a question that I would appreciate any of your thoughts on.

My son is 10 weeks old and was diagnosed with reflux at 2 wks of age. He was on regular Similac and breastmilk at the time. He was prescibed Zantac 3x a day and was switched to lactose free formula. He was on that up until last week. (I am no longer breastfeeding and havent in several weeks). He seemed no better about his crying and stiff back when eating and general unhappiness. Now he is on Prilosec 1x a day and Nutramigen. I can't tell a difference yet. Why is that formula supposed to be so good for our types of babies? He still arches his lttle back and cries horrible at most feedings, plus it doesn't satisfy him. (I put 2 tbs of cereal in it).

I am taking him to a gi this friday. He is so unhappy and has been for his whole little life. Any input is most welcome. Thanks. He is crying riight now!

Hiya leydensmom,

You need to give the new formula a week or more to see if it is working.

My baby...(now shes almost 13 months) was the same way she was on 6 different kinds of formula until we tried soy.
Try having your baby sit up for awhile after eating....
Try to prop your baby up when he is sleep also...if you can let him sleep in the swing. Hope spent most of her nights in there.
It works...SOMETIMES!

~Any type of lactose free formula is milk based!!!
Some mothers even try goats milk.

GOOD LUCK!!!

My son had the same problem as yours starting at 2 weeks old. He was on similac advance, isomil soy formula and now Nutramagin. The nutramagin has worked the best for him. I agree, I would give it alittle longer to see the difference...good luck
