I am at my wits end with my smallest triplet. She was an IUGR baby, but was doing great with a bottle by the time she came home from the hospital. She is now 3 months adjusted (4 1/2 months old) She used to throw up all the time, but still ate very well and seemed comfortable. About three weeks ago she stopped throwing up and began fighting feeds. It has become a nightmare to try to get food down her. I almost alwyas have to wait until she is asleep and she is beginning to fight me on that, too. Yesterday I managed to get 19 oz down her and today so far only 15. She weighs 9.7. We saw the Dr. Thursday and we are seeing a speech therapist and an OT Monday. The ped thinks it may be oral aversion, but I am convinced this all stems from reflux. She is on Zantac, but I can't tell a difference. This is more stressful for me than the pregnancy, the bed rest, the NICU....... I feel terrible for her but I don't know what to do to help.

(((HUGS)))

WOW do you make it through with triplets??

How long has your baby been on zantac??
Every 2 pounds or so your baby gains the Zantac dose needs to be increased.
Zantac is not for every baby,
it is only to reduce acid reflux.

Zantac for several weeks now with no improvement that I can see. We started soy formula last night and she does seem to like it better. EI was here and the speech therapist did not see any oral problems, so it just seems to be the discomfort.

Triplets are hard work, but fun! :)
